Yeah, it has been a while. With school starting up, I went from writing every day to…not so much. Things change, however, and I now find myself out of school and wondering what the next step is.
I started having seizures, not Grand Mal varieties, but little ones, anywhere from ten to twenty each day. and while they were not the stereotypical kind you might see in the movies, they were disconcerting and unnerving to say the least. After about a week of having them, my mom convinced me to go to the hospital. I ended up staying the night, subject to a whole array of tests. Nothing conclusive came out of it.
The seizures continued. After doing my own research, I finally concluded that I was having a bad reaction between my pain medication and my anti-depressant. Unfortunately, by the time I realized this, I had already withdrawn from school. So now I am finding myself working on my fiction again as I slowly withdraw from the Tramadol (the medication that is at issue.)
I finally decided, after waiting months for a friend to design new covers for my stories at Smashwords, that I would learn how to use GIMP (Graphic Image Manipulation Program) and design my own. So I got on YouTube, did one tutorial and began making new covers. They turned out pretty fantastic, I think. I am so glad I finally decided to do this on my own.
Here are a few of them:
I have discovered that I really enjoy the process of making these covers. Once I figured out how to use GIMP, it made everything much, much easier.
For the time being, I am back in action, although at this point I am working more on editing than I am on writing new fiction. I hope to have one of my favorite stories ‘Sign of the Raven’ edited and ready for Smashwords sometime in the next couple of days! Cheers.
